The Niger State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nigerian Army Properties Ltd. (NAPL) for the construction of a market in Suleja, headquarters of Suleja Local Government Area, valued at N121 billion.

The Secretary to the State Government,Abubakar Usman, and the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Emmanuel Umar, signed on behalf of the state, while the Vice Chairman of NAPL, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun (rtd), the Group Managing Director, Brig. Gen. Isah Doma, and the Company Secretary, Barrister Ahmad Belel Ismaila, signed on behalf of NAPL.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the agreement as a milestone achievement in the history of Niger State, adding that the market is expected to be the largest in the Northern Region.
The governor said the market, when completed, is projected to generate between N500 million and N1 trillion for the economy and will support commerce in Abuja, as Suleja has historically been a major hub for trade.
Governor Bago explained that partnering with NAPL is intended to leverage the economic importance of the market while boosting the socio-economic status of the state.
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director of NAPL, Brig. Gen. Isah Doma, described the agreement as a rare privilege for NAPL to partner with Niger State and contribute to the developmental efforts of the governor.
Brig. Gen. Doma expressed the company’s commitment to delivering the project and assured that the opportunity would not be taken for granted.
